Hello,
I am trying to replace the front left wheel bearing on my mazda. How do you remove the hub from the axel? Can you walk me through the steps to do the entire removal procedure? Thanks

Hi bango2001,

Thank you for the donation.

I could not find any illustrations that would make the job easier so hope the following descriptio from the repair manual is good enough.

Removal

1. Raise and support vehicle.
Remove wheel assembly.
Remove axle lock nut.
Remove brake caliper, and wire aside.
Remove rotor.
Remove tie rod end cotter pin and nut.
Separate tie rod end ball stud from knuckle.
Remove ABS sensor and position aside, if equipped.
Separate lower control arm ball joint stud from knuckle.
Remove bolts retaining steering knuckle to strut assembly.
Separate hub and knuckle from drive shaft.

2. Press wheel hub from knuckle.
Place alignment marks on dust cover.
Separate and remove dust cover.
Remove snap ring and oil seal.
Press bearing from knuckle. If bearing inner race remains on hub, grind race until 0.02" (0.5 mm) remains, and remove remaining race using chisel.
