Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Mazda Protege 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Every time I fuel up my car, it stops every 15- 20 cents. This takes up so much time filling up my tank. If I get lucky, sometimes I get to go 30 cents before it stops. I have already looked under the car, and there is no kinks in the fueling hose. On most cars there is a metal flap where the nozzle goes to fuel up, on my car there is not. Maybe I need a new hose, or more. Please let me know what al it could be.

Thanks, Jon Taylor

Hi there,

this will be a problem with the fuel tank venting system, as you fill the air pressure backs up the fuel in the neck turning off the pump, this will have to be checked by a mechanic, the system involved is the EVAP system.
