ac quits working when you turn the blower above 1 on the control knob. The compressor shuts off and the blower blows warm. The ac light also goes out. What do I do to fix this problem?

start by checking you have the correct froen pressure in the system

Have you resolved your problem yet? Not a professional but have had Protege for a long time and seen lots of similar problems caused by a faulty blower switch. <$30 at Mazda and easy to replace. Hope this helps.
