I found a replacement hood latch for a 1998 Mazda Protege. I have a 2000. Autoparts Warehouse does not appear to have a hood latch for any models newer than 1998.

Is there a way to find out if this part will fit on a 2000 model before I order it? The price is great and I don't want VIP or the dealership soaking me with heavy mark ups on this part.

Thanks.

I don't have part numbers for this item. What you can do is call up two different Mazda dealerships ask ask them for the latch assembly, and ask them for the part number. They will give it to you if you ask. Then if the part numbers match, you are good to go. If they are different, then they are not interchangeable.
