1995 Mazda Protege - 97K done. Whizzing sound from the drivers side of the engine, when this sound increases the Automatic transmission does not respond and the car stalls, does'nt move no matter what gear you put it in. Switch off engine for 5-10 mins and re-start it, runs fine for another mile or two.
Is there anything wrong with the 'Torque Converter' ? The whizzing sound is like something is rubbing against and its coming from the drivers side of the engine. The mechanic said that the transmission is not good and this causes the sound from the engine and it has to be replaced for big bucks.
