What could cause the 2 main brake lights to go out yet the third window brake light works? I have replaced the brake switch, but that was not the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Other than the bulbs, check the wires to the bulbs for 12V, If none, then they may be on a seperate fuse or the wiring to them (most likely a common ground) is open.
If you have 12V, then the bulbs or there may be a short in the housing. Inspect the housing for any burn marks.

Check the multifunction switch...on the column. On most fords, it's a green wire problem at the switch, and oh yeah, Mazda is a ford..
