2004 Other Mazda Models Two Wheel Drive Manual 61000 miles
Every time it rains, my hazard lights have been going on by themselves, first buzzing randomly then going on steady. This has been happening ever since the car was repaired from an accident in 2006. However, the problems never persisted long enough for the body shop to diagnose. Now, it seems that the starter or starter imobilizer is affected as well - the car will randomly not start at all after rain - the battery is charged, but the starter will not turn over. Sometimes there is a clicking sound and the lights on the dash go crazy, but usually it just acts as if I have the key in the on position instead of start. I can hear the fuel pump activating, but no hint of life from the starter. If I let it sit for 45 minutes or so, after disconnecting the battery, when I reconnect, it will start right up. This problem only occurs after rain, so I think it has to be some kind of short caused by water. Also, once the horn got stuck on after rain (when the hazards were flashing by themselves), but after it dried out that problem has not reoccurred. Occasionally, the indicator light for the door ajar is dimly lit when the hazard light problem occurs. Just recently, the right turn signal has taken to flashing once or twice then not repeating when it is on - this problem is ongoing, even after rain, I thought perhaps the flasher control module might have gotten worn out from constant buzzing while in a shorted out state. Any ideas on what to check for would be greatly appreciated. I have not been able to locate any indication of where this might be happening except that there is sometimes a small puddle of water on the drivers side floor mat after a long hard rainstorm. I haven't been able to locate the drip.
