2004 Other Mazda Models MY MAZDA 3 WONT START

2004 Other Mazda Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 70k miles

what could possibly be the problem? my mazda 3 won't start. The radio, lights, a/c, and such turn on, however, when i turn the ignition switch, there is a clicking sound and all the dash lights rotate spastically. any ideas as to what i should have checked? i would like to know some possibilities before i call a tow to take it to a repair shop.

twistednotions, i have the same problem, what did you do with yours? did you take it back to the shop and how much you spent? is it ok now?
