Heater problem
2003 Mazda MPV V6 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 45000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I think I have a bad heatercore. Only when I turn on the heater do I get an anti-freeze smell. How tough a DIY prioject and how do I know if it is the heater core for sure. I have not found any leak in cabin or under hood.
Thank you

Hi there,

Are you loosing coolant? Have the cooling system pressure tested with the heater on hot, this will show up any leaks in the system, if the heater core is leaking, look for any coolant around the low air out lets, get down and try to inspect up the vents with a torch, or even a stick with a bit or cotton attached but don't poke to hard at anything, just wipe around the lower vent tubes that you can reach looking for moisture. :D
