Crazy alternator issues?

Hi there. Well, the story starts when I was waiting for my daughter to get out of Kindergarten. I was parked with the car running, then it died. A neighbor jumped me, and I made it to an auto parts store and died right there again. They tested my battery and it said bad battery. So I bought a new battery. They tested my alternator and it said bad diodes. SO I took it to the mechanic shop to replace the alternator. The shop called me the next day and said the alternator is fine. I was shocked. Great honest mechanic, though! So, I drove it nervously for a few days just a few miles or so. Then today (about 5 days after the fact) I had to drive 40 miles and I was scared to drive it with my 4 little munchkins in the car. So I took it to an auto parts store who tested the alternator and said it was fine. I drove the 40 miles with the radio on for the first time since the first incident, and by the time I got to my destination, the battery warning light came on faintly after I started my car up to head home again. I took it to another auto parts store, and their machine said bad diodes again. What can be wrong? Is there a cable or some wire that could be deffective and not the entire alternator? Thank you so much for any help you can give.

We have had a very similar situation with our 2007 MPV-77,000 miles.
2 dead batteries, mechanic said alternator is good.

Have you had any luck getting more info?

You may have a bad wire,ignition switch or connection somewhere in the charging circuit causing an intermittent issue.

Replaced battery and alternator twice in 3 days- still not charging. Alternator and battery both tested good. What else could be wrong?

Check the main terminal of the alternator for power with the key OFF. If no power found, check the big maxi fuses. Check all the other fuses also.

We have a 2000 mazda mpv with 165,000 miles, that my son drove from colorado to college in ny four months ago. On his way the battery light came on near chicago and the car broke down. It was a Sunday and his triple A towed him to a Pepboys. They said his battery and alternator were fried. It was a new battery and a 18 month old alternator. The car made it to ny and just a few weeks ago the same thing happened again. This time the battery survived and the alternator went, Pepboys replaced it. Now 4 weeks later the battery light has gone on again. Pepboys tested it and said the battery and alternator are testing fine. The concern is he plans to drive the car back to Colorado in 2 weeks. What do you think.

Buy your own cheap pocket voltmeter and while car is running check voltage at battery posts. Should be 13.5 to 14.5. Then turn on wipers an lights and heater fan and check again. Should no lower than 13.5 if alternator is not charging it will show 12-12.5

I have a 2000 Mazda MPV. I have replaced both the battery and alternator six months ago when the alternator was showing discharge and the dash light was on signifying a problem with the charging system. The charging warning light has reappeared again on the dash. Tghe light disappeared and I had a 14.2 voltage reading at the battery. The problem is occurring intermittently. I changed the negative post terminal and added an 8 guage ground wire to the body and the tester shows no resistence with that ground. It took me about four hours to replace the alternator and I am not that interested in pulling it again. What advice can you give?

Have the computer controlled of the alternator's field generation circuit checked and tested-
