I HAVE A 2000 MAZDA MPV THAT WILL NOT IDLE; I ALSO HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH A LOAD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE AIR FILTER BOX. I TOOK THE AIR BOX OFF, NO JOY, THEN THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT HAS A O2 SENSOR NO JOY, THEN THE 3 TO 4 INCH RUBBER HOSE GOING TO THE INTAKE STILL CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I NOW AM LOOKING AT THE DIAPHRAGM THAT IS HOOKED TO THE CABLE FOR THE, I AM ASSUMING THE CHOKE OR IDLE. IT ALSO HAS AN AIR LINE COMING OFF THE INTAKE TO THE DIAPHRAGM. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? AT THIS POINT I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP. THANKS

THat sound you are hearing (loud humming) is a faulty IAC valve on the back of the intake, its behind the EGR valve. It will need to be replaced (not cleaned or repaired) in order to clear up the problem. That what I think you are describing.
