1998 Mazda MPV 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Just bought a 98 mazda mpv, it keeps killing the battery and overheating, what could the problem be and where could I get a diagram of the engine?

start by replacing thermostat and fkushing cooling system .. repalceing battery and checking the alternator
