Will I be able to change the front wheel bearings at home
or will I have to get a mechanic to do them.

WHEEL BEARING
NOTE:On MPV 2WD replace hub and bearing assembly as a unit.

Removal (MPV 2WD)
Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly. Remove brake caliper and wire aside. Remove grease cap and axle lock nut. Remove brake rotor. Remove hub and bearing assembly.
Removal (MPV 4WD)
Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly. Remove axle lock nut. Remove tie rod end cotter pin and nut. Separate tie rod end ball stud from knuckle using Puller (49-0727-575). Remove brake caliper and wire aside.
Remove lower control arm-to-ball joint bolts and separate ball joint from lower control arm. Remove lower control arm ball joint cotter pin and nut. Separate lower control arm ball joint stud from knuckle using Puller (49-0727-575). Remove bolts retaining steering knuckle to strut assembly. Remove rotor. Separate hub and knuckle from drive shaft.
Remove wheel hub from knuckle using Puller Set (49-G033-1A1) and Plate (49-F026-103). Place alignment marks on dust cover. Separate and remove dust cover. Remove snap ring and oil seals. Remove bearing from knuckle using Puller Set (49-G033-1A1) and Plate (49-F026-103). If bearing inner race remains on hub, move race away from hub using chisel. Remove race from hub using Puller Set (49-G033-1A1) and Puller (49-0636-145).
Inspection
Wash all disassembled components before inspection. Check for damage, excessive wear and signs of bearing seizure. Inspect steering knuckle and hub for cracks, scoring and rust. Check for damaged dust cover and poor fit with steering knuckle. Replace components as necessary.
Installation
To install, reverse removal procedure. Adjust wheel bearing preload. See WHEEL BEARING under ADJUSTMENTS.
