1999 Mazda Miata heater smells

I have a mouse dropping smell when I turn on the heater. could there be a mouse nest in the heating unit? And if so how do I find the box or space that would be harboring this? Behind the glovebox? or elsewhere? and where would I find a diagram that will allow me to find and disassemble the unit?
