1994 Mazda Miata Hold light flashing - code 55

Hi, the hold light on my 94 Mazda Miata is flashing. I looked it up and it is flashing code 55 which is "speed input sensor". I would like to know where exactly that sensor is located and if there is a procedure for checking the sensor to confirm that it is faulty. thanks
