1994 Mazda Miata engine problem

when car is warm, it will sometimes refuses to accelerate (when I press down on the gas pedal, it feels as if it has no power and will not pick up speed but just maintain it's crusiing speed). The problem is intermitent and only occurs when the car has run for a while.

I would start with checking the TPI sensor for a fault.
