1991 Mazda Miata no power to ignition

drove it yesterday, all fine.
today, no power to ignition, won't shift out of park,
steering wheel does NOT lock up.
could it be dead battery oe something else?

If this no power to the ignition-when you turn key to run and the lites that you normally see is not there-Check and test all the fusible links, miniature fuses if all okay -test the ignition switch
