I must replace my instrument cluster because I broke the lens badly. (Don't ask.) Obtaining a used cluster shouldn't be a problem, but I have two questions.

Firstly, if I find one that has a lower odometer reading than the one I presently have, is it possible to advance the odometer so that it matches my current odometer?

Secondly, I know how to remove the cluster, unhook the wiring harnesses, etc, but I don't know how to remove and reattach the shifter cable. Does it detach at the instrument cluster end or at the shifter end? How is it detached?

Thanks.
