On my truck the check gages light stays on, and my gas gage doesn't work. Is this a serious problem?
I just bought the truck and it appears mechanically well maintained. I could use your help. Thanks

The seriousness depends on which part of town you're in when you run out of gas. The "Check Gauges" warning light is there to get your attention when one of them is showing a problem. If it's on all the time due to the gas gauge, you won't know if the engine starts to overheat or the charging system quits working unless you keep an eye on those gauges all the time.
