Install fuel pressure gauge to fuel pressure relief valve located on fuel rail
turn ignition ON and crank engine
fuel pressure should be 35-40PSI
if low check fuel filter and suspect fuel pump
check for any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)
check for a strong blue spark :
remove coil wire and hold  "from ground, crank engine
and verify a strong blue spark is discharged , if not suspect coil
check timing and EGR
Genreal check list
? Verify air filter is clean.
? Check fuel filter for restriction.
? Check closed throttle position switch
? Check coil resistance.
? Check mass airflow sensor for cracks.
? Check EGR valve and solenoid for correct operation (if equipped).
? Ensure fuel system pressure is correct.
? Check purge control valve operation.
? Check atmospheric pressure sensor.
? Check ignition system for intermittent operation.
? Check for restricted catalytic converter.
? Check Variable Resonance Induction System (VRIS) for correct operation (if equipped).
? Check Variable Inertia Charge System (VICS) for correct operation (if equipped).
? Check crankshaft position sensor.
