Mazda 626/1997/140,000 miles/ 4 cylinder: I just got the clutch replaced this afternoon. Although the clutch works great now, when I was driving to work straight from the shop I noticed that everytime I went over a bump, the front left wheel (it could have been both wheels, but I only noticed the noise from the left) was making an awful noise that it's never made before. It sounded as if something was not connected correctly. On my way home from work, I started to smell something, and by this time, the shop was closed. It smelled like something was burning, and I have no idea what it was, or why it was doing that. Is it possible that something was reassembled incorrectly, if so, what do you think it could be?

IF THIS VEHICLE IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE, IF THE SHOP DID'NT SEAT THE C/V AXLES INTO THE TRANSAXLE DEEP ENOUGH TO SET THE C-CLIPS INTO THE SPLINED SHAFTS, YOU MAY GET THE NOISE YOU ARE DESCRIBING.
ASSOCIATED WITH HAVING A C/V AXLE NOT SEATED ALL THE WAY, YOU MAY EXPERIENCE LEAKS & OUTWARD BINDING ON THE WHEEL BEARINGS ect.
YOU MUST TAKE THIS VEHICLE BACK TO WHERE THE WORK WAS DONE, WITH ANY PAPERWORK
THAT HAS WARRANTY INFO. ON THE JOB THEY JUST DID, & MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE TOP MANAGER ABOUT IT. INSIST!
PRINT THIS PAGE & BRING IT WITH YOU, SO THEY INSPECT ALL THE ABOVE.

SINCERELY,
