2001 Mazda 626 car dies with a.c. on

When I have my air cond. on and come to a complete stop or have the car in park, it will die or almost die. If the air cond. is off, it runs just fine.

The Ac compensating circuit is not functioning properly.

I would suggest giving the throttle body and the IAC valves a good cleanup with carb cleaner.

Is the Check Engine light showing?

Hi baileybarbblaine,

Carb cleaner is a type of aerosol cleaner used for cleaning carburettors and throttle bodies.

You need to remove the air intake hose and spray into the throttle body but if you are not into DIY, then get someone to clean the throttle body for you.
