how do i change a interior light bulb which lights the blower, air conditioning, back windscreen defroster etc. do i take off the 2 big wooden panels or the two small panels either side of the unit

Yes, you have to remove the panel to replace the bulbs.

Are you sure so many bulbs are fused at the same time? It could be a blown fuse, bad connections or a dislodged wire connector.
