Electrical problem
2000 Mazda 626 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 125k miles

Turning the key on the "on" position will already start the engine. There was a smoke coming out from steering wheel. I tried to remove the cover and found out that the smoke was actually from the ignition switch. And also noticed that a while the engine was already running, there was a strange noise which seemed that the starter is still running.
Is this a symptom of a bad switch or something else.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Hi there,

Get a new switch fitted before you burn out the electrics as a loom fire is a real possibility.
