My car has recently started shifting rough between 1st and 2nd gear. I have noticed that the engine seems to rev a litte higher and then go into gear. All other gear transitions are good and smooth. I checked the trans fluid and it is pretty dark, could this be the issue or is my trans going out?

Dark is not good if fluid has never been changed do so. The dark fluid can indicate clutch wear and slipping.
