Hi

Over the last couple of months I have had a rattle coming from the exhaust/muffler area of my car. It is not getting any worse or better. When I accellerate it sounds like a rattle or maybe like a loose disk or washer rubbing against something - surely it has to be a vibration problem. It stops when I take my foot off the accellerator and doesn't do it at any other time or when it is in neutral and I rev the engine. It mostly does it when I first take off and before it changes into the second gear. The mechanic said maybe I had stones in my muffler.

Thanks for your help.

dont know if id say stones in your muffler, but first you should check all heat shields and muffler hangers and shake the exhaust pipes yourself till you find whats doing it, if it sounds like its coming from the inside then take off your exhaust and dump out the pipes.
