My daughter was driving my car on a busy highway, when it suddenly started decreasing speed, and eventually died. She was able to get it to the side of the road. When trying to crank it back, it would not turn over, not even with a jump. She also stated that when they touched the starter, the negative side of the battery sparked, and smoked. The car had to be towed, and is in the shop until tomorrow am, however, was wondering for my peace of mind if you would have an answer to what could this be. Thank you.

Hi hunterangel57,

Sorry for late response and hope the problem has been solved and is not major.

Sparking of the terminal means it has not been properly secured.
