1997 Mazda 626 won't start

The car just won't turn over. It comes really close but dies before it kicks over. At first thought, we were concerned about bad gas; fuel pump or fuel filter. We cannot hear the fuel pump when the key is on.

You don't hear the fuel pump -check and test the engine fuse 10amp, EGI INJ fuse 10amp, Main relay and fuel pump relay
