1997 Mazda 626 sluggish under load

1997 626 runs fine until accelerating up hills, rough and weak up hills. I have seen other posts with regard to the intake boot may be cracked, before i tear into it could this be a cause or should i be looking in other directions (injectors) i have repalces the fuel filter previously but to no avail. 162 k miles. thank you.

1997 Mazda 626 LX, 181,000 Miles, Automatic Transmission and 2.0 Litre 4 Cylinder. No engine light as of now, i will need to ask the wife and kids as i rarely drive it.
