1997 Mazda 626 Power Steering Pump

I recently took my 626 Mazda in because I heard a strange coming from top part of the engine. I thought it was my belts but after having belts tightlen I found out it was the power steering pump. How can the car be driven before major damage, and what is needed part wise if order through the mall ie, auto parts

Hi there,
If you still have power steering and still hear the noise, its probably the Pump bearing. I have had that problem in the past myself. You can go to one of many salvage yards and pick one up for 15 bucks. My brother recently got one from pick and pull in milpitas for his 626 and paid only 8 bucks. Good luck. Larry
