Hi, I am working on a 97 Mazda 626
Original fault was IAC, but pulled IAC it looks like it is working.
Symptom is high idle, around 2k. When throttle is tapped, the engine revs, then drops drastically to a normal idle, then quickly rises to 2k again.
Other codes that I have seen are P0113, P0122, P0304, P0302. Keep in mind I have been toying with things so some of these could be false. I have erased but no new ones have appeared even though the symptoms persist. Also, unpluging the IAC has no effect. If I remove the IAC and block the hole, the idle returns to normal. However, I can see the IAC plunger moving when its out. Thanks. /rick

Hi Rick,

Problem seems to be the IAC. It is opening more than it should though it is working. did you check if the coolant hoses to IAC are clogged?
