1996 Mazda 626 registers hot

I have a 96 mazda 626 w/ 150,000 miles. My temp gauge registers hot when idling and while driving. i have recently changed the thermostat. what is the problem

Hi there,

You may just have a faulty sender unit. Get the coolant temp checked with a sutable thermometer, if it is with in correct range, replace the sender, start there.
