Local AC people in Mexico have filled w/freon 12, checked for leaks, checked wiring against wiring diagram and have concluded problem is probably the computer. Does this seem reasonable? Can computer be reset or must it be replaced?

Thanks

If they have done the proper trouble shooting and have concluded it is the computer, then you will need a new one, they cannot be reset or flashed. You may be able to find a re-manufactured one at a little less cost than a new one from the dealer
