I am the person w/the lock problem. My car is old & has lots of problems. Besides the lock problem my car has a hard time switching gears. Sometimes I have to put it in "neutral" just so it will start up because it does not know it is in "park" & will not start. It bugs me that mechanics are always trying to "rip off" female customers. I can get all the advice about how to fix my car from you but I will still not know where to start & will most likely have to take it to a male mechanic who will rip me off. Where can I go to check out prices so I know I am not being taken advantage of? I live in Sacramento, CA. Can you refer me to a cheap & honest mechanic?

Hi Phanh08,

The inhibitor switch attached to the trans shift rod is faulty as it is not showing the P mode. Some adjustment might solve the problem, if not you need to replace it to be able to start in P mode.

Sorry I am unable to recommend anybody to you. Ask around at the parts outlet and you might get lucky.
