My car has a front passenger window that does not work, and I am told that the problem is with the motor. If I have this problem fixed, will the other windows soon malfunction as well? Will I be continuing to have to deal with this problem?

Hi there,

Window motors are normally very reliable, but what can cause them to burn out is excessive loading, this is normally due to dirty window tracks, you can get a specific window track lube, don't use WD40 type sprays as they attract dirt and can make things worse, change the motor and get the window channels cleaned and re lubed.

Earlier today I used the keyfob to roll down the windows before leaving for work in which they worked fine. When i got in the car and turned the a/c on I went to roll up the windows and the auto up worked fine on the passenger side but the driver side stopped as soon as i let go of the button. I tried it multiple times and it still wouldnt auto up. So i attempted to roll it up by holding the button and at a few points it stopped and started grinding pretty loud and i would have to go up and down while pulling up the window to get it up. also when the window is all the way up it will continue to try and go up if you hold the switch and make a loud grinding noise. auto up or down does not work and if i roll it down all the way there are 2 or 3 spots that it will get stuck. I thought maybe the motor was going bad but i dont think that would affect the auto up or down until it gets to the stuck point. Any ideas?
