2005 Mazda 6 Oil over fill

I recently had car my service by the dealer. After my oil change my car started to smoke and had lack of power. I return to the dealer immediately, they said that the oil has been over filled. They drain and refill the engine with oil to the right level. So far I havent have any re occurance of the problem. My question could there be a problem with the engine in the long run, cause by overfilling the engine with oil.

Hi there,

As a general rule, no you should not have any long term problems, the smoking you had is just excess oil on the bores as the oil control rings were not able to cope with the excess, if you did not correct this over filling and just continued to drive, you would then expect some problems, but as you did the correct thing and had it rectified ASAP i feel that you should not be concerned.
