I have a little less than half a tank of gas in my car and the little yellow light for low fuel came on. I then filled the car completly up and it is still staying on. What could be the cause of this?

the fuel gauge sender unit is most likely at fault in the fuel tank .

Thanks for the reply! Maybe thats it! If so, would it hurt to drive it like that for a little while, or should it be fixed ASAP?

won't hurt anything, just don't run out or very low on fuel or it can be harmful to the fuel pump as well as risk of getting contaminents from bottom of tank into the engine .
