1994 Mazda 323 Fuel pump

Do I have to drop the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump located in the fuel tank. It would seem not according to the repair manual, but the garage I took it to said the fuel tank would have to be removed to replace the pump. Thank you, Thom in Largo, FL

defenatly not pull the rear seat cushion the access cover is underneet
