Engine Mechanical problem
2005 Mazda 3 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
hi, we have a 2005 Mazda 3 with a 2.3L engine that is blown (rod through the block). We have located a used motor with low mileage from the same model and year, but it's a 2.0L instead of the 2.3L. Will this motor work in our car? Will the existing transmission fit the 2.0? Will a new ECU be needed to work with the 2.0L motor?

Any assistance will be appreciated

Thanks,
Bob

NOPE, by the time you finish making that swap work it would be easier and cheaper to buy another car. Stick with the exact same engine.
