2004 Mazda 3 Battery warning light

My battery warning light just started coming on do you think if I change the battery that will help or should I bring it in first and have it looked at
2004 mazda 3 2.3L

If the battery light is coming on then I would take it to a auto part's store and have them test the battery and alternator. Most likely you have a bad alternator or some other reason why it's not charging the battery.I would take care of it right away before you get stuck somewhere.
