Shifter linkage broke, found all but a bushing for it. Since then we had all gears and now it is starting to lose gears or I have to force it in and sometimes it pops out of gear. Now only have first, second and reverse gears.

Hello, I am Danny.

Manual transmissions have what are called syncro gears. It is meant as a buffer when shifting gear to gear. They are designed to wear but, when there is excessive play (missing bushings like you stated, or old age)it deteriorates them faster. To fix the syncro gears the transmission has to be taken apart for access/rebuild. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions if needed. Thanks for using 2CarPros.
