It is difficult for me to find a product suitable for my manual transmission. I need a Gl-4 rated fluid that is safe for my vehicle. Most products are gl5 and I am reluctant to use because I believe that they have additives that will eventually damage the yellow metal in the gearbox. Do you have any recommendations on what product is safe? Thanks.

Red Line MT-90 80W90 GL4, Amsoil Gear Lube 75W-90, Or just visit a good parts store like NAPA or Federated and they will have a GL-4 available.
You are correct to avoid GL-5 in that box as it will damage the synchronizers.
