My car makes a horrible rattle sound in park but goes away when I am driving. The noise comes back if I am at a stop sign as well. But again when I am driving the sound goes away. Also my anti freeze seems to disappear but no antifreeze on the ground. Could this be a water pump and timing problem?

Hello,

This sounds like a classic broken flex plate problem which is located between the transmission and engine. Use a flash light to see if you can tell if there is any rust colored dust on the flex plate close to the crankshaft. Or raise the car on a hoist to and stand under the car when someone is inside while putting the car in park.

Please let us know what happens.

I took it to a mechanic and he said what you said, a bad flex plate. I have since had it fixed and the part was $60 dollars and the labor only $300. So on the road again
