A friend of mine picked up this $300.00 car. It starts right up only when the MAF sensor harness is off. Also found another MAF in a box in the trunk. I am guessing people have changed it thinking it is the MAF. With 200,000 I am sure there are vacuum leaks affecting it, so I am going to run a smoke test. So, he has two codes, 8 and 65. Can you tell me where the camshaft sensor is so I can check the harness first? Also, when I connect the MAF sensor car turns off, we tried both MAF sensors. Remove the boot that goes from the MAF housing to the throttle body, and it was a bit twisted and not completely right so I fixed it. But this boot has an extension underneath the boot. I cannot figure out where it goes. It's about 4-5 inches long, a thick vacuum hose that is about an inch in diameter, plugs into the boot but I do not see where the other end goes to. Can you help with that please? Codes are 8 and 65.

Can you upload some pictures so I can see what you are talking about with the air tube/hose? Also, is there more to the code than just 8 and 65? Here is the camshaft sensor location so you can check it out. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Okay, it looks like we need to start with the camshaft sensor and then clear the codes and if the the MAF sensor code comes back replace it as well, please check for leaks around the MAF first though.
