The car only goes up to 80km/hr. If I press down the pedal, then the engine runs faster but the speed remains on 80. What causes this?

Hi and thanks for using 2carpros. Com

If the engine RPM's are increasing but the vehicle doesn't speed up, it sounds like the clutch is slipping. Don't laugh, but try this little trick. Make sure the area is clear of any obstructions. Once you are clear, start the engine and place the vehicle in 5th gear. Pop the clutch while keeping one foot on the brake. If the engine stalls, the clutch is good. If it doesn't stall or takes some time to stall, the clutch is bad.

Please be careful doing this. Make sure there is nothing to hit.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
