Message appeared then went away, never done that before. Where is the sensor that controls that?

Hi,

The oil level/temperature sensor is located on the bottom of the engine oil pan. It is held in with three 10mm bolts.

If you plan to replace the sensor, the engine oil needs to be drained first. When you install the new sensor, make sure the O-ring is replaced as well. Also, lubricate the o-ring with motor oil prior to installation.

I attached the directions below from my manual. If you haven't already, check to make sure the oil level isn't low.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

There are a couple of possible locations. It is based on if the vehicle has a hydraulic power steering pump or electric-assist power steering.

I attached two pics below showing the locations. If you have a hybrid or something different, let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Dropped oil and sensor, oil was old, sensor is new, someone replaced it before me. Hopefully the oil viscosity was just bad enough for this to display a message.

Hi,

That is possible. Is everything working properly at this point?

Let me know.

Yes, i drove this car from Atlanta with no issues and have been using it since for 2 weeks. Message started to pop slowly and becoming annoying but no symptoms. Changed the oil and noticed the sensor looks new is what am saying. Message still pops up.

Hi,

Are you sure there are no codes stored? Have you tried scanning the CAN bus? If I had a code, I should be able to come up with diagnostics for it.

Here is a link that explains what I'm referring to:

Let me know.
