At idle my truck has 8 psi of oil pressure and going down the road around 18-20 psi. This was read on a mechanical gauge so I know this is the correct reading. I just bought the truck and the motor was said to have just been rebuilt. New bearings, new pump, and all. There are no ticks or knocks in the motor and the truck runs fine. What might be my problem?

Hello,

This oil pressure is extremely low and I would worry about camshaft bearing failure, as well as main and connecting rod bearing failure. I would not drive your vehicle until the oil pressure is brought back with specs. I have included in the diagrams below factory diagnostic testing for your vehicle's oiling system. I have also included a link below for you to go to.

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
