My son cracked his oil pan and drove home leaking oil. We had the pan replaced and oil refilled. It drove home afterward smoothly and with no problems except for a noise as you accelerate. Could the engine be seriously damaged?

If he lost oil pressure, there could be engine damage? Did you have the noise, before the incident?

No, before the incident it was running perfect. He hit a deep dip in the road and wasn't aware he had really damaged anything until his oil light came on and it started to knock around the corner from our house. There was a trail of oil up our driveway and a large oil spot where he parked. After the repair it sounds like a rattling when you push in the gas.

You need to take it to a shop, where they can do testing on it. I can't see much from here. They might be able to track where the noise is coming from?
