Can anyone help diagnose this problem? There’s a grinding noise coming from under my hood, it sounds like a belt slipping but it’s not a squeal, more of like a alternator bearing shot. It goes for a couple minutes, gets super loud at the end and then resumes being normal. Video below.

Forgot to mention, when accelerating it stops as well, but resumes lightly when staying constant speed. I replaced my serpentine belt due to this issue and it’s still there.

Good afternoon,

I would release the belt from the motor. I would spin the water pump, power steering pump, and A/C compressor. Check the tensioner and the idler pulleys as well.

The most common is the water pump. The bearing fails from the tension.

If it is the water pump, I would suggest replacing the thermostat as well since you have the system open. I attached the procedure below for you to view. It is an easy replacement.
