Hi,

The code P1336 is related to a correlation issue between the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor. Check the sensors first for evidence of damage. Also, check the timing chain cover at the crank and the trigger wheel on the outside of the timing chain cover.

The P0340 is specific to the camshaft sensor. It indicates there is no signal from it.

There is no code P135. It should be a four-digit number after the P. Let me know if that was written in error.

Listening to the engine, the noise seems to be most obvious at the top. The camshaft position sensor is at the front of the engine. See pic below. See if the connector to it is good and if that is where the majority of the noise is coming from.

If the noise is coming from lower, carefully check to see if the sound is near the crankshaft position sensor. See pic 2.

Let me know.

Joe

Hi,

Yep, bank1 sensor 1 O2 sensor. Okay, we need to narrow down where the noise is coming from. It is difficult to listen to a video and make determinations.

Do me a favor. While it is running, remove the oil cap to see if the noise gets louder and if it seems to be coming from under the valve cover. Also, let me know if this started all at once and if the engine oil is clean and full.

Let me know.

The car was low on oil (no oil pressure light) when all this started and yes it happened all at once. I replaced all the sensors, and the car is still running with little to no power and still has the engine noise from the video above. The camshaft position sensor code keeps popping up after replacing it with a new one. I'm inclined to believe that the camshaft itself is damaged and may need a new engine at this point.

Hi,

Anything is possible. How low was the oil? The code (P0340) is specific to the cam sensor not sending a signal. I could understand damage to a camshaft lobe if it was starved for oil, but that wouldn't prevent the signal.

Because of that, I suspect there is an issue with one or more of the VCT solenoids and that is causing the noise or there is a damaged toner ring. But my money is on either a failed solenoid or a blockage of oil to the system.

Let me know if I can help.

Take care,

Joe

Not sure where the VCT solenoid is located? 2006 Ford 500 has a 3.0L V6 engine.

Hi,

On the 3.0L, it is integral to the VCT. I'm trying to find a part number or picture and am having no luck. I don't think it can be replaced independently on this engine, but I cannot confirm it.
